Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients: apple cider, sugar, butter, heavy cream, vanilla, salt, and any optional spices.
- In a saucepan, simmer apple cider over medium heat for 15–20 minutes until reduced to about 1/2 cup.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it caramelizes to a golden brown.
- Carefully add butter to the caramelized sugar and stir until melted.
- Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring continuously to create a smooth mixture.
- Add the reduced apple cider and stir to combine all ingredients.
- Let the sauce simmer for 5–10 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat, let cool slightly, and transfer to a jar or container.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
Use fresh, high-quality apple cider for the best flavor. The sauce thickens more as it cools. Add spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to customize.
