- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 apples (sliced thin)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into rectangles.
- Bake the pastry for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, heat milk and cream until just boiling.
- In a bowl, whisk sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch together.
- Pour hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Let the custard cool.
- Layer baked pastry with custard and apple slices.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

- Chill the custard for better texture.
- Use tart apples for a balanced flavor.
