Description

A traditional Scottish meat pie filled with minced meat and spices.


Ingredients

  • 500g minced lamb
  • 250g minced beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 300g shortcrust pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a pan, sauté the onion until soft.
  3. Add the minced lamb and beef, cooking until browned.
  4. Stir in the spices and seasonings.
  5. Roll out the pastry and cut into circles.
  6. Place a spoonful of meat mixture in the center of each circle.
  7. Fold the pastry over and seal the edges.
  8. Brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the pies cool slightly before serving.
  • Can be served with mashed potatoes or gravy.
