Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and baking soda, then set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Add vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture, and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Drop dough by tablespoons onto baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  • For chewier cookies, refrigerate the dough for at least an hour before baking.

  • You can substitute half of the chocolate chips with nuts if desired.
