Instructions

  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla and blackberry puree.
  6. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  8. Pour the batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks.
