  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the bowl and coat well.
  3. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Cook chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
  6. Let chicken rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly.
  7. Warm pita bread on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Assemble shawarma by placing chicken, lettuce, tomato, and onion in pita.
  9. Drizzle garlic sauce on top before serving.
