Ingredients

- 1 lb chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 onion, sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs to the bowl and coat well.
- Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
- Let chicken rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly.
- Warm pita bread on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble shawarma by placing chicken, lettuce, tomato, and onion in pita.
- Drizzle garlic sauce on top before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add pickles or hot sauce.
- Use chicken breast for a leaner option.
