- 1 cup cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter and brown sugar, then add cherries.
- Pour the cherry mixture into the bottom of a greased cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add eggs, vanilla, and milk to the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Pour batter over the cherries in the pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen cherries.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before inverting.
- Serve with whipped cream for added flavor.
