Ingredients

  • 1 cup cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and brown sugar, then add cherries.
  3. Pour the cherry mixture into the bottom of a greased cake pan.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add eggs, vanilla, and milk to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Pour batter over the cherries in the pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
