Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in brewed coffee and vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  11. Once cooled, layer cakes with caramel sauce in between and on top.
