Description
Danish Carnival Buns filled with creamy vanilla custard.
Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups vanilla custard
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and salt. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide into small balls.
- Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of custard in the center.
- Fold the dough over the custard and seal.
- Place on a baking sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Use fresh yeast for better results.
- Make custard ahead of time and chill.
- Brush with melted butter after baking for shine.
