  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg and molasses, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
  7. Roll out dough and cut into shapes.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
  9. Cool on wire racks.

  • Use royal icing for decoration.
