Description
A classic Italian dessert with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone.
Ingredients

- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until pale.
- Heat milk in a saucepan, then slowly add to the egg mixture.
- Cook over low heat, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- In another bowl, whip heavy cream to soft peaks.
- Fold mascarpone into the cooled egg mixture.
- Gently fold in whipped cream.
- Mix coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Dip ladyfingers in coffee mixture, then layer them in a dish.
- Spoon mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers.
- Repeat layers, finishing with mascarpone.
- Chill for at least 4 hours.
- Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

- Use strong coffee for best flavor.
- Chilling overnight improves taste and texture.
