Description
Homemade Christmas spice extract is a festive blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and other spices infused in alcohol to create a rich, aromatic flavoring perfect for holiday baking, drinks, and gifting.

- 2 cups vodka or rum (high-proof alcohol)
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 6 whole cloves
- 1 whole nutmeg (grated)
- 1 tablespoon allspice berries
- 2 tablespoons fresh or dried ginger
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 clean, airtight glass jar
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients including alcohol, spices, and jar.
- Prepare the spices: grate nutmeg, break ginger into pieces if dried, and leave other spices whole.
- Place spices into the jar and pour in alcohol until fully submerged. Add sweetener if using. Seal tightly.
- Store jar in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks, shaking gently every few days. For stronger flavor, let infuse up to 1 month.
- Strain mixture using cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer and transfer liquid to a clean, dark glass bottle.
- Label and store in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year. Shake before use.

Use high-quality, fresh spices for best results. Experiment with variations like cardamom, star anise, vanilla beans, or orange peel. Alternative alcohol bases such as bourbon, rum, or brandy create unique flavor profiles.
