Description

Kreatopita is a traditional Greek meat pie filled with minced meat and spices.


Ingredients

  • 500g minced meat
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 2 sheets of phyllo pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until soft.
  3. Add minced meat, salt, pepper, oregano, and cinnamon. Cook until meat is browned.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in feta cheese.
  5. Layer one sheet of phyllo pastry in a greased baking dish.
  6. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the pastry.
  7. Cover with the second sheet of phyllo pastry.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the pie cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
