Description

Menchi katsu is a Japanese dish made of ground meat, usually pork or beef, breaded and deep-fried.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g ground pork
  • 200g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat sesame oil and sauté onions and garlic until soft.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground pork, ground beef, sautéed onions and garlic, soy sauce, sake, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into patties.
  4. Coat each patty in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry each patty until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve with tonkatsu sauce.

Notes

  • Serve with shredded cabbage.
  • Adjust seasoning to your taste.
  • Can be baked instead of fried for a healthier option.
