Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  8. Divide the batter in half. Mix cocoa powder into one half.
  9. Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters into the prepared pan, swirling with a knife.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Let cool completely before frosting.
