Description
Spicy edamame yaki onigiri is a flavorful Japanese rice ball filled with spicy edamame and grilled to perfection.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup shelled edamame
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt to taste
- Nori sheets, cut into strips
Instructions
- Rinse sushi rice under cold water until water runs clear.
- Combine rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let rice sit for 10 minutes, covered.
- In a bowl, mix edamame, sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt.
- Once rice is cool, wet your hands and take a handful of rice.
- Flatten the rice in your hand, add a spoonful of the edamame mixture, and shape the rice around it into a ball.
- Heat a grill pan over medium heat and grill onigiri for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Serve warm, wrapped with nori strips.
Notes
- You can adjust the spiciness by adding more or less sriracha.
- Make sure to keep your hands wet to prevent rice from sticking.
- These can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days.
