Description
A homemade version of Subway’s famous bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide into two pieces.
- Shape into loaves and place on a baking sheet.
- Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- For a softer crust, brush with melted butter after baking.
- You can add herbs for flavor.
