Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled
  • 1/4 cup water, ice cold
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  3. Add chilled butter and rub until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  4. Stir in ice-cold water until a dough forms.
  5. Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. In a pan, cook onions until soft.
  7. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook until browned.
  8. Roll out the pastry and line a pie dish.
  9. Fill with the meat mixture.
  10. Cover with pastry, seal, and cut slits for steam.
  11. Brush with beaten egg.
  12. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
