- 100g self-raising flour
- 100g unsalted butter
- 100g sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 100g golden syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100ml milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Grease a pudding basin with butter.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Stir in the flour and milk alternately.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Pour golden syrup into the bottom of the pudding basin.
- Pour the batter on top of the syrup.
- Cover the basin with aluminum foil.
- Place in a saucepan with boiling water halfway up the sides.
- Steam for about 1 hour.
- Serve hot with custard.
Notes
- Ensure the pudding is cooked through before serving.
- You can substitute golden syrup with treacle for a stronger flavor.
- Serve immediately for the best taste.
