- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans.
- Frost with your choice of icing.

- Use red or pink food coloring for a festive look.
- Decorate with fresh strawberries or edible flowers.
