Description

A traditional savory baked scotch pie made with minced meat.


Ingredients

  • 500g minced lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 100g beef suet
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 400g shortcrust pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix minced lamb, chopped onion, beef suet, black pepper, salt, and thyme.
  3. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut into circles.
  4. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  5. Fold the pastry over and seal the edges.
  6. Place the pies on a baking tray.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve hot or cold.
  • Can be made in advance and reheated.
