Description
A traditional savory baked scotch pie made with minced meat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g minced lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 100g beef suet
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 400g shortcrust pastry
- 1 egg, beaten for glazing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a bowl, mix minced lamb, chopped onion, beef suet, black pepper, salt, and thyme.
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut into circles.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
- Fold the pastry over and seal the edges.
- Place the pies on a baking tray.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve hot or cold.
- Can be made in advance and reheated.
- Pair with mashed potatoes or peas.
